What is the face value of a digit?

Ans:- The face value of a digit in a number is the actual value of the digit that is which we can see through our eyes in a number.

Example:- The face value of the digit  4 in the number 35647 is 4;


What is  the place value of a digit ?

Ans:- The place value of a digit in a number is the place at which the digit is present in that number.

Example:- The place value of the digit in the number 35647 is =4×10=40;


Types of number 

What is Natural Number ?

Ans:- The numbers which can be counted, except zero, are called Natural numbers.

Example:- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,.........


What is the Whole Number ?

Ans:- The Natural Numbers along with zero are called Whole Numbers.

Example:- 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,.........


What is an Even Number ?

Ans:- All Natural Numbers which are divisible by 2 are called Even Numbers.

Example:- 2, 4, 6, 8,10, 12,......


What is an Odd Number ?

Ans:- All Natural Numbers which are not divisible by 2 are called Odd Numbers.

Example:- 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13,.......


What is the Prime Number ?

Ans:- A number is called a prime number if it has only two divisors, 1 and the number itself.

Example:- 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17,.....

The smallest prime number is 2 and the greatest prime number is undetermined.


What are Composite Numbers ?

Ans:- A number is said to be a composite number if it has another divisor besides 1 and the number itself.

Example:- 4, 6, 8, 9, 20, 12,......

The smallest composite number is 4 and the greatest composite number is undetermined.


What is the Co-Prime Number ?

Ans:- Two natural numbers are called co-prime numbers if their gcd (Greatest Common Divisor) is 1.

Examples:- 2, 3; 4, 5; 7,9 etc


What is Integers ?

Ans:- The whole number along with the negative numbers is called Integer.

Examples:- ……..,-9, -8, -7, -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, ….


What are Positive Integers ?

Ans:- All the natural numbers are called positive integers.

Example:- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,.....


What are Negative Integers ?

Ans:- (-1, -2, -3, -4, -5, -6,........) are called negative Integers.


What are Rational Numbers ?

Ans:- A number which can be expressed in the form of (a/b) is called Rational Number. The gcd (Greatest Common Divisor) of a and b must be 1 and b is not equal to 0.

Examples:- ½, ⅔, ⅙, ⅓, ⅞, etc.


What are Irrational Numbers ?

Ans:- A number which cannot be expressed by a/b, is called Irrational Number.

Examples:- √2, √3, √7, π etc.


What are the Real Numbers ?

Ans:- The Rational numbers combined with Irrational numbers are called Real Number.

Examples:- 1, 2, √2, π, 6, 9,..etc.


What is a Complex Number ?

Ans:- The numbers in the form a+ib , where i=√-1 is and a, b are real numbers is called Complex Number.

Examples:- √-5, √-9, 2+√-7 etc.
